You'll sometimes hear Mr Ryu discussing how there's actually 26 patterns of Taekwon-Do. This graphic shows you when each one was added/removed. The current 24 are supplemented by U-Nam (removed in 1965) and Ko-Dang (removed in 1986). Many schools and the entire TAGB still teach Ko-Dang as it's seen as more pure and Juche has some North Korea Politics behind it.
